A Message of HOPE-We must thrive not just survive.
During an era when major shifts in policy happen daily, it is essential that educational professionals stay grounded in purpose. This interactive discussion will empower educators with tools to embrace change and remain committed to the profession that love so dearly.
Eryca Neville is currently the Principal of Frederick Douglass High School. She is also an Educational Consultant with A Brighter Day Therapeutic Services, Houston, TX and provides business and educational consulting through Walker, Neville, and Associates LLC.
Eryca holds a BSBA Economics, BSBA Marketing, MEd Curriculum and Instruction, EdSp Educational Administration and a PhD Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri.
In addition to her roles with Columbia Public Schools and as a consultant, she currently serves on the board of the following organizations: Heart of Missouri United Way, Stephens College, The Missouri Symphony, Heart of Missouri CASA, Boone County Democratic Committee, Tierlock, LLC and the Flourish Initiative. Eryca has been recognized as a NAACP Outstanding Educator, Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow, and as the 2022 recipient of the ATHENA International Leadership Award. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Links, Incorporated.
What’s her why? She is the mother of 3 phenomenal children, Dr. Nicole, Nia, and Charles. They are her absolute joy, and they inspire and motivate her daily.

Celebrate the joy of reading and collegial connection by participating in our Blind Date with a Book exchange!
How it works:
· Bring one gently used book you’ve enjoyed and would recommend
· Wrap the book to keep it a surprise
· Optional: include a short note about why the book is meaningful to you and your contact information
What kinds of books?
Any genre is welcome—fiction, nonfiction, professional development, anything goes!
At the MACTE conference…
Drop off your wrapped book in the lobby, browse the collection, and select one to take home.
You won’t know what you’ve chosen until you unwrap it!

MACTE Day on the Hill: Wednesday March 4th
Agenda:
9:00 am: Meet at High Rise Bakery for coffee and agenda overview
118 E. High Street (parking on street and in back) - this is a preliminary gathering for coffee and introductions. No worries if you cannot meet at that time
By 9:00 am: Gather in the Rotunda for any last minute directions, overview
Several meetings have already been scheduled by individuals with their district representatives. Between 10:00 and 1:00 we will go in groups of at least two to these offices and the offices of members of the House Education committee and Rules committee (will have names/office numbers for everyone on Wednesday)
1:00 pm - lunch at Arris' Pizza (117 W. High Street)
The focus of our discussions with legislators will be HB 2776: Associate Degree for teaching Elementary Education.
